We need the help on Long Island. :D

I love how Breitbart, the dirty, stinky anus of American journalism, puts this on Obama and not where it belongs, on Christie. You're part of the problem Breitbart.

I'm not sure how that could be made any more clear.

Not sure if I should be shocked by this, but when you're sitting without power for two weeks just think of how help was turned away.

Good news though, the NYC marathon will have electricity.

Will direct quotes from the affected power company executives do?

That doesn't include Decatur which the original story was about. Knowing the unions, i have no trouble believing this story and thats probably why it was picked up.

From the article by WAFF, the original source of this news:

At best, you've got some confused IBEW guy telling the crew the wrong thing. It's not the policy of the union, the state, or anyone else to refuse help from non-unionized workers.

    1) See above by hulugu. Seems like the workers were told something along those lines, but were fed a bogus line by some unofficial person being either selfish or a moron. Shame on them.

    2) Yeah, it's unfortunate but two weeks to get power back doesn't seem too surprising given the amount of damage.

    3) Yep, it's rather selfish, IMO, for the race to bring in generators and bottled water for the runners when there are residents of the city who have lost friends and family, or lost their homes, or have no electricity or food or clean water. I can certainly understand runners who have spent years preparing and attempting to qualify for the race, and have spent money on plane tickets and hotels - but at least they have a warm, dry home to go to. The race, again IMO, should cancel the event and donate their supplies to the relief effort.

Those union workers are shifty bastards, they probably weren't confused at all.

Likely based on left leaning sites trying to twist stories. Still hasn't been debunked.

Doesn't seem terrible, but if they turned away help, then it's awful.
If your first point turns out to be true, then it's terrible.

At least we can agree on something.

First, I didn't see the other thread...and second the other thread started on a different topic that I wasn't interested in, ergo the reason why I didn't see it.
Spin-off threads happen all the time when a topic is derailed. Either the mods can merge them or move that info over here.

Are you saying left wing sites tell the truth?

Confused about what he's supposed to be doing. Sending extra workers home because they won't agree to some union contract isn't it. Not all union workers are like this.

Go read the story from WAFF.com and you'll see what the right is trying to twist into some union conspiracy is probably the result of one knucklehead who thinks that everyone coming to New Jersey needs to belong to the brotherhood.

It doesn't need to be debunked, that interaction probably happened, but only to one crew at one place in New Jersey.

Honestly ? I'd say yes. They tell the truth more than right wing sites do.

Left-leaning? It's straight from the mouths of the spokespeople of the power company.

but that is left leaning because it is full of facts. I mean it is only good news if it full of lies and stuport the GOP.
