Scanner Buttons

Just purchased an epson perfection 3490 scanner, but when I press one of the buttons on the front, i get an apple 'error beep' and then an error message:

"Epson Scanner Monitor cannot run because there is no such volume."

ANyone got any ideas? I've tried the drivers from epson's site, and also the CD - but nothing

In the Epson setup/preferences whatever, what is the button set to do? have you changed that (if not, try it).
