    This has bothered me for a very, very long time. I rank this up there with former industry chiefs suddenly finding themselves in charge of regulatory commissions.

    Science is one of many inputs to the political process. It can't work the other way 'round. The only justification for political influence in scientific results is an attempt to hide facts that the public will use to discredit policy-- it's a tacit admission of corruption.
