Hey guys,
with the screen issue (bad black color) on the ipod touch ( i assume its all of them) can it be fixed by a software update or will we have to return them and get a new one and hope for the best??

Its most definitely a hardware problem, so if you can't live with it better take it back, I read somewhere that Apple stores are making immediate and no questions asked swaps if you complain of a bad screen.

If it was a problem with colour hue or colour contrast then a software update would have fixed it but blacks are most definitely due to cheap LCD's.

guessing game

at this point isnt it a guessing game as far as which models are bad and which are good, isnt it kinda impossible for the apple stores to know if the ones they are giving in place of the bad ones are bad themselves?

My deep black sucks on the ipod, but I dont notice it that much to be honest. I bought it from BB but I doudt they will take a return on it. do you all think we should just wait until it all pans out or what?

Whats a guy in my shoes to do?

I have this problem too - i'm getting a replacement.

what about if you buy it at bestbuy and you have a problem?

do they exchange if opened? or is there a fee?

They have a 30 day return policy with no restocking fee. So they will definitely swap it out for you.
