Have a Screen Time schedule set up for my kids iPads that’s block just about everything when it’s time for bed. Was wondering why I can still hear their iPads well after the schedule was set to enable Screen Time.

So out of the blue today, the whole screen time setup reset to defaults and now it can’t be toggled on. A schedule option doesn’t even pop up anymore. A quick foot note showed that said the iPads have to be updated. Well they can’t be since the update is delayed. This update is a joke. Broke just about everything.

And since when do I have to disable my own screen time to sign out of iCloud?

Edit* Just back to Screen Time and it suddenly works again. Still a mess

It is a mess still now mate. I’m struggling for moths now and never know if my daughter is limited or it reset itself again 🤦🏻‍♂️🤦🏻‍♂️

Apple …

So far *knock on wood* mine has been working as designed but we’ll see what happens with the next update. Think 16.1 might have fixed it for me.

....or just take away iPad at certain time and give back in morning.

I think screen time is a cool feature (and agree Apple should fix error) but kids will do everything they can to find a way around parental blocks.

Well Not really useful just to take it away. It’s actually her phone not iPad and I don’t mind her keeping contact with friends but I want to block TikTok for example. And that worked perfect before.

My biggest problem with screen time is ability to accept or deny additional time requests via watch - it simply no longer works and Apple seems to not care to fix it. I also hate how any new additional screen time request from my daughter is dumped into our iMessage thread. The changes in iOS16.x to screen time are f.. ridiculous backwards. This is the biggest pet peeve I have with iOS 16.

Add me to this list. Everything was working fine before I got my 14pro. My kids devices are stuck on iOS 15. Resets randomly and has been driving me nuts for months now. I hope apple will fix this! It was nice when it actually worked!

My main issue with screen time is around the age restrictions. I have a 7 and 10yr old. So have the age settings done appropriately.

My 10yr old is set to 12 for movies. Yet if they try and play Minions or any other PG or U movie and it won't play. The only way it will play is to turn off screentime. I've approached apple about it several times and I either get told it must be the device (it's a 2021 iPad Pro) or I get told it's how it is designed. When I point out the flaw in that last statement they then revert to it must be the device.

Nothing I do will fix it. And Apple appear not to be able or want to either.

I have now found the issue I think.

All devices must be in newest software and same as of iOS 16 at least.

All mine were apart from old iPad which was iOS 15.6 and won’t update anymore with no longer support from Apple. As this was logged at my missus (parent) account it was messing the screen time. Apple have broke something with iOS compatibility and iOS 15 doesn’t talk to iOS 16 screen time settings.

I have switched off screen time in this old iPad and turn it off for two days and all works perfect now.
Will test if switching off screen time is enough or I need to log it out completely now.

Right. I think it has something to do with the iOS 15 to 16 compatability also. I have found a way to trigger the settings to reset also. All my kids have to do is use the one more minute option a on an app once or twice and it resets and then I have to set the limits again only for them to be gone again after they use the one more minute!!!

My son also got an iPhone 13 and I updated him to the latest iOS 16 thinking that would fix it… it didn’t! I shut off screen time on the other 2 iOS 15 devices to see if it would help on his iOS 16 device but it didn’t! Maybe it would work if I took the other 2 iOS 15 devices out of my family but that feels like a big pain in the butt. I really wish they would just fix this problem! I can’t believe more people haven’t make a big deal about this. I guess we are in the minority of actually monitoring our children’s screen time!

Sadly reporting back that iso 15 iPad was not an issue. I have removed it off the iCloud to be 100% sure and as you said , when my daughter ask for more time it resets all settings. 🤦🏻‍♂️🤦🏻‍♂️
