Hey,
I was curious if anyone could check if iOS 13 finally brings the ability to search within PDFs in the files app? It’s absolute garbage that this doesn’t work yet... I always have to export to iBooks to search within the PDF.

If not, could anyone in the beta Programm please send feedback to Apple to add this simple function

Thanks

Do you mean search within the pdf once you open it by tapping on the file, or search within the pdf from within the files.app itself?

You can do the latter, but not the former.

Search within the opened PDF... this is so frustrating, it’s possible in iBooks.
This is a serious letdown

When you open the pdf you are essentially looking at it in a quickview, not an app. Would be nice if they would port preview.app to ios.

Personally, though I just use ios acrobat when i need to do real work with PDFs.

It’s an overseen lack of feature. I use iCloud Drive for my uni lectures PDFs and not being able to search is just ridiculous.

have you tried the goodreader app - you can search text when opened within Goodreader - I use it a lot for PDFs on ipad and iPhone

Yes, I do have it installed. But it’s easier for me to download files on my Mac and move it to their iCloud Drive folders.

It’s funny that your English is perfect, but you said “uni” and I immediately though “must be a german.” :)

(Entschuldigung.)

Yeah, I wish they had all the mac preview.app features on iOS. Bit of a pain shuffling things around to use acrobat.

not sure what you mean -

My Goodreader has an iCloud drive folder - very easy to move it there from the mac and then on IPP move within good reader to sub folders etc.
