I think that's what intelligence agencies are supposed to do.

Except the leader of the country was outraged we spied on them and then proclaimed they don't spy on allies.

Just like us, they got caught.

We know the Brits, French, Israeli (hail, EVERYBODY) are spying on the White House too. They just better at hiding the crumbs from the cookie jar.:p

Right! That is exactly what they are supposed to do. Every country with an intelligence agency denies that it does anything with that agency, and decries all the actions performed by foreign agencies. Makes for good PR. But then they go right on doing the same things.

Consider just how much it would be worth to another nation to have even just a few hours worth of heads-up on all the crazy stuff Trump tries to pull. I'm sure all of America's allies are currently going nuts trying to get good intelligence on what this government is going to do next.

Good luck to them. ;) Even Trump's own people don't know what he's going to do from one moment to the next.

And there's a big difference between allies trying to get a heads up on what their fellow NATO members are up to, and enemies of the US trying to worm their way into our voting software, or releasing documents that could throw a close election the other way.
