Now this is how you filibuster like a man. :D

69-year-old Bernie Sanders has been railing against Obama's Tax Deal FOR SIX HOURS so far. As if that isn't snarky enough, he's streaming it online. Bernie Sanders is now trending on Twitter, and all the major news outlets have picked this up as he keeps going, and going, and going. And it's not like it's nonsense. He has a million statistics, someone keeps changing the slide presentation set up next to him, and he keeps bringing up tragic stories kind of Obama-style. He's what he has to say on what he's doing:

    Go Bernie, go! :D

    ****ing. Awesome.

I've always been hugely impressed by this man's focus on people first in every interview I've seen from him.

Yeah, I've always respected him, but now I revere him.

Apparently, Mary Landrieu is helping him with this. Every time he has to go on a bathroom break or get some water or something, she continues until he comes back. :D

After 6 hours, I just hope he doesn't pee himself. :D

Watched parts of it, he's doing a great job.

This is so amazing to see. Why didn't they do this sooner?

This one is verified, but it looks like it is kept up by more of his "campaign staff" than him personally.

    Here you go.

Why haven't the Dems made the Republicans do this before?

My god, he's talking about the need for better infrastructure in this country. He just spoke about broadband and cell service.

He may be older, but damn if he doesn't get it

In VT, broadband and cell access is a major issue. I have friends that live in very nice areas, pay big taxes, and still have dial-up with no other options. In VT it is a major social and political issue. Anywhere off a main road, you are likely screwed.

He's just hammering everything home. I really wish we'd see more like him, this speech is truly amazing.

=O He's even bringing up the pitfalls of NAFTA! Somebody get this man a medal.

It may very well be but the chamber is likely empty and it will get 20 seconds on the evening news.

Well, the beauty of living today is that 20 seconds can lead people to the internet or newspapers. In addition, I'll be sure to ask people I know if they are aware of it. It's a world where viral video and viral emails are common, so why not viral politics?

Congress, stop talking and DO something. There's nothing heroic about a big windbag wasting everyone's time.

Thank you! He's basically giving a six hour pre-campaign speech. Look at me, aren't I great? What was he doing these past two years when he could have gotten stuff done!

I didn't mean it like that skunk. I may be young but I'm not one of those "anyone over 30 is old" brats.

From my experience people pushing 60 currently don't seem to have a good understanding of what the internet is and how important it is, which is scary when they are politicians. Sanders shows an astonishing understanding of current technology and what it means for America's future.

Well for one, he's the only reason why we now know what happened to the money the Fed was giving out.

He's also been trying to break up the massive economic giants that he calls "too big to fail, too big to exist" as they have far too much power.

I oppose the filibuster strategy on principle. It should be used only rarely, not as a matter of policy.

How often is it used by anyone other than the GOP?

There are times where it is actually necessary, and as I see it, in regard to this "compromise" this is one of those times.
