    Well this is frightening.

Whether you pirate software/media of any kind or not, this should still bother you. The government is essentially giving themselves permission to seize control of domains that provide a service they don't like, and if the domain isn't in their jurisdiction this will allow them to demand ISPs block all routes to those sites.

What's next? Websites that bad mouth the president? Pages that disagree with general government decisions? China currently has completely control over what is and isn't available in their country; as far as I'm concerned, this is one step closer to the same thing here.

    Original story here.

Edit: Whoops, just noticed that someone else started this discussion over here already. Just reply wherever, as long as you make your voice heard.

No, this gives them the right to shut down websites that are essentially endorsing and providing illegally pirated software, games, files etc...

    This should be done.

I wonder how long before this is expanded to sites deemed "unpatriotic".

That's my point. Like I said, no matter what your views on pirating are, you have to look at the big picture and what this kind of action is laying the groundwork for.

What's good for corporate America is good for you.

    Now bend over farther.

Aren't you one of those "small government" folks on PRSI?

I'm all for a single payer system. That's not "big" government. THIS is *BIG* government.

I think the government has its place but when people are getting cheated out of their creations on pirated sites then the law should protect them and shut these sites down.
