I can't believe there's not a topic on this yet given the way the major issues are normally jumped upon here, but here's the story:

    http://www.independent.co.uk/news/u...-repay--taxpayer-for-blue-movies-1657030.html

The matter is made worse by the fact that her husband is employed by her and paid by the taxpayer for his time as her 'aide'.

Can anyone possibly imagine a person in another position getting away with this?

Those of you who are able to claim expenses at work, what would happen to you if you submitted a claim for porn?

You get called in by the boss to make sure it wasn't for hookers and/or strippers.

She'll be going soon. I'd be surprised if she weathers this one. I won't miss her.

What we really need to know is...was it gay porn and is he a Republican? (sarcasm, yes I know they're British).

She was the one who led the ban on "extreme" porn.

So her position on porn is, "If it makes me uncomfortable, it should be illegal! Otherwise, the taxpayers should provide me with it!"

The porn isn't the story, it's just the hook that the Sunday papers needed to put it on the front page. The issue is that despite the Timney/Smith's second household £180,000 per annum in salary from the taxpayer - that's before her expenses claims - they would even consider claiming expenses for their private entertainment.

Presumably they/he/she watched the films playing on the £1,100 TV and set-top boxes that we, the taxpayers paid for, whilst sat on the £704 sofa that we, the taxpayers also paid for? Not to mention the 88 pence plug, £1000 fireplace, £500 sink...

Of course, all of this could have been avoided if Mr. Timney and their two children lived with Jacqboot at her main residence under her sisters stair!

The current shower of faecal matter in the HOC also claimed £93 million in expenses last year, on top of their salary, which will increase by 2.33% tomorrow.

Authoritarian, venal, incompetent. Don't let the door hit your collective arses on the way out!

Don't forget that The House of Commons also voted to keep expenses out of the freedom of information act, which in effect means that their individual claims are free from public scrutiny.

I have no idea how this particular incident became public knowledge but I am assuming it was a leak of some sort. I find the behavior of all of our ministers disgusting relating to this entire issue, and it spans all parties, not just the Labour party.

MPs redacted receipts will be made available in a few months time so they're all in for an extremely uncomfortable summer.

Apparently, the Sunday papers have been offered copies of the MPs expenses for the princely sum of £300,000. Presumably the mole, like our MPs, believes that he/she should also make some money that he/she is not entitled to!

But only 1.5% next year. See, they're giving up so much!!

I do think they should be allowed an allowance to help fund a London base, within reason. But anything like furnishings/decor etc should come from their own wages.

    On a slightly related point:
Any paid researcher employed by an MP should actually do their job and look in the Parliament library for stuff and should stop bothering me!!

You would think they would learn, this crap about MP's expenses have been going on for ages and yet they act as if nothing is wrong.

    Worth every penny. Bless 'em.

They can stay a bloody Travel Lodge like everyone else! Or if that's too much like the plebs for them, a small flat could provided by the State that they leave when they lose their seat. A politician should never be allowed to profit from representing their constituents.

I hope that you're suitably curt towards them! :D

Now that's an idea! Can it be arranged for the roof to be leaky and for the shower to never get hot?

Apparently one of the films went by the entirely edifying title of Raw Meat 3. Very highbrow, I'm sure.

I would be very interested in finding out if any of the activities in the film could be seen as breaking the new extreme porn laws.
