Set VLC player as default

Im using VLC player to watch mp4 files now cuz quicktime is taking too much cpu use but quicktime is set as default. Is there a way i can change VLC to default player? Thanks

Click on an MP4 file and then press COMMAND-I. Under the Open With section, select VLC and then click Change All.

Get info on an MP4 file in the Finder and in the open with drop down menu select VLC. Then click the Open all with button (or something like that).

my trouble is there is 2 VLC installed a 0.91 which doesn't work and a 1.0.5 which I want to make thhe default player but in the selection it just says VLC not 1.0.5. Any help plz?

Why not just trash the VLC .91 then? No reason to keep it around, right?
