Wondering if ios11 allows changing the default app? i.e. Setting Links to open in chrome instead of safari.

How dare you ask for the option to set default apps, you should be using Apple made Apps for everything. There could never be a third party app that is actually better /s

Why are people always asking for this? Setting custom default apps makes no sense on iOS given the level of security & privacy put into place by Apple. Apple's default apps are already well optimised and work the best with iOS. There is no need for user default apps.

You forgot the “/s”. Might be misconstrued! ;)

I'm being serious though. If you compare iOS and macOS, and the openness of either you'd see what I meant.
That is, assuming /s means /satire.

Chrome. Google Maps. Spotify. Those 3 options alone would be enough of a reason for most.

This is pure nonsense. The 3rd party apps would be just as usable and pose no greater privacy concern than they do now

Many of Apple's native apps are far from the best option (mail, calendar, music, maps, podcasts, to name a few). Imposing this restriction is purely about their control knowing many customers would choose other options if given the option.

You want to continue using Apple's native apps, go right ahead--having the ability to change default apps wouldn't impact you in any way.

Still a shame for apps like mail and safari, using my iPhone would be a lot smoother with the ability to set default apps
