I am trying to set up the Mail app on my MBP. Right now I am using gmail and I really like using it. I just got Mobile Me though and would like to synce my mail thus I am trying to set up the Mail app.

The problem I am having is that when I open Mail it sucks all the emails I have in my gmail inbox into Mail and out of gmail. How do I set it up so that it is like my iphone where it will act like one inbox. I want all my inboxes to show the same thing and if I delete a message from one it deletes from the others, but if I don't then it shows in all my inboxes. Is this possible?

You have two options:
  • Use IMAP rather than POP3.
  • Click on Gmail in your Accounts preferences. Click the Advanced tab. Uncheck Remove copy from server after retrieving a message:

My gmail is already set up as IMAP. That is how I have been working with gmail and my iPhone.

I also have Remove copy from server after retrieving a message unchecked, but it is still sucking all my emails out of gmail.
