For those of you who have been all jacked up about Rush Limbaugh's saying that he hopes Obama fails, you may be interested to know that Democrats felt the same way about Bush.

A Fox News/Opinion Dynamics poll taken in 2006 asked a random sample of 900 registered voters the following question:

"Regardless of how you voted in the presidential election, would you say you want President Bush to succeed or not?"[/B

51% of respondents who identified themselves as democrats said they did not want him to succeed.

    Comments?

Post a link it's obviously a lie, since it's from Fox and everyone knows that only republicans would hate their country that much that they would want their president to fail and the Democrats would never say such a thing.

At that point, hadn't he already?

How many wanted him to fail at the beginning of his presidency in January 2001?

I have a big comment.... 2006 this poll was taken, 5 years into Bush's 8 year Presidency. 5 years after a very very controversial win over Gore, 3 years into a war that we never should have gone into, 4 years after Bush pissed away a federal budget surplus and caused America to start hemorrhaging money. Of course people wanted him to fail and get the hell out of public office... Do you really think that this is equal to what Rush said?

Rush Limbaugh wants Obama to fail right out of the gate. No grace period, no getting his bearings as a new President, nothing. Even after Bush's win in 2000 and he was finally declared President by the Supreme Court nothing negative was said about the guy to this level. All I hear and see is that Obama is the worst President for trying to take a crap situation that was left by the last guy and turn it around.

Please.... Let's talk about something important now...

Why? I wanted people to realize that he failed after he did, so they wouldn't make the same mistake again, but I didn't want him to fail and put us in this mess. Are you glad that the economy has gone to ****? Is it worth being able to say "I told you so?"

Frankly, i dont give a damn about rush, so your right on that front.

But the 2006 timeline is VERY important as explained in previous posts. We hated him by that point and his disgraceful presidency.

So you're admitting that you wanted Bush to fail?

Still I don't see why time has anything to do with it.

Im a republican, and I pray to God that Obama Fails. What he wants to enforce is socialism. Thats not what this country needs. We need a leader who can get this country back to work, digging ourselves out of this mess. Not getting everyone drunk on the Obama Aid, where we all expect the government to do everything for us.

The government should protect our borders, provide healthcare, and education, and stay the hell out of our lives! They should not give out welfare checks to the morons who are to lazy to work as they do now!

He was doing a pretty good job of it himself, and yes I wanted his policies to fail entirely when they were shown to be dishonest, corrupt, and downright bad for the country. As for his aid to Africa, why would I ever want that to fail.

I know the point you are trying to make, and I get it. I do think there is a difference here right now though because in this current situation if Obama fails, the country goes with him. The economy wasn't in grave peril until it was nearing the end of Bush's term so he could easily pass it off onto the next sucker, just like he did (purposely) with the war.

Confused, you don't want socialism that you say Obama is promoting but you want the government to provide healthcare. Wouldn't this promote socialism? And here is the funny thing. You want government to "stay the hell out of our lives" but you want them to do the things you list. Protecting our borders is not in the United States Constitution so it's not a federal issue it's a state issue, healthcare is not in the above mentioned Constitution therefore again a state issue, and education is not in the above mentioned Constitution so it is a state issue, but you want to pick and choose what the government does and does not do, but then again you want it to fail, seeing that Obama is part of the government.

Im a libertarian, so take what you will from that, but i never once wanted a president to fail. The guy is running the whole country, if he fails we are all boned. I want our president to succeed, regardless of who he might be. Im not a big fan of Obama, but i dont want him to fail because if he fails the whole country fails. The problem is that it started to be "cool" for all the pseudo post-modern college kids to start bashin bush without having any idea what they are talking about. Sure, the guy screwed up quite a bit, but desperately wanting someone to fail is crossing the line from disapproval to ignorance-based hatred.

If it bothers you that much you should still have faith in the system of government we have in place. This country has been pulled to the right for eight years now, and a step or two to the left won't hurt us.

Still? You'd think after a while, people would stop this crap.
I wish Obama was more liberal! He isn't close to socialism.

Really, welfare checks to the lazy? I mean that argument is crap in good economic times...but its god awful during a recession.

Funny, wasn't it a Republican President who started the crazy spending and buying of bank shares? Also, wasn't it a Republican President who passed a new prescription entitlement without a funding source? But, Obama is the socialist?

I'm not even sure half of the right wing nuts (I do not mean respectable Republicans who articulate their ideas) know what socialism means, but because good old Uncle Rush said the word, they believe it. It is like some kid who heard a word at school and tries to say it all the time to show he is cool, but uses it in the wrong fashion.

I don't understand. Will it upset you if Obama's policies are beneficial to America?
