I LOVE the 15 Pro Max's Titanium Frame but I also loved the Stainless Steel from the 13/14 Pros as well due to being more durable for Drops and less chance of bending it.
Maybe the 16 Ultra could have titanium back panels instead of glass and with stainless steel frame? :)

Titanium back panels? How about wireless charging then?
Besides, it will be very hard to move back to a heavier material after this titanium switch, as there are a decent chunk of people hating heavy iPhone.

I think they could either thicken up the Titanium or replace the internal aluminum with it. The back glass seems the most fragile part, not sure why they have not put the Ceramic Shield on it. I doubt we see steel again, unless they can come up with some creative new way to use it.

I would only ever support stainless steel on an iPhone again if they could figure out a coating that fixes the fingerprint issue. It's really night and day between my blue 13P and my blue 15P. The 15P has nothing noticeable on it in comparison.

The age of USB-C began. Who needs wireless charging when we can habe one cable to rule them all?

It’s too early for this post lol. Most people haven’t even had their phones 24 hours yet. Need time to spend with them to check average day to day wear and tear on them and such.

I would ditch wireless charging in a heartbeat to have a back panel not made of glass. There would be no fear of shattering the back glass then lol. Plus I’m sure if Apple really wanted to they could find a way to make it work…at very least with MagSafe.

Nope, never buying a stainless steel frame phone again, gets too grippy when your hands are warm and shows every single fingerprint.

I really hope they bring back stainless steel.

I think this has more to do with how the glass back is more ‘loose’ it sits against an aluminum plate on the back. More repairable, but somehow also less forgiving when bent, it seems.

The titanium frame appears unscathed on all the tests, aside from expected scratches and scuffs.

Would have loved to see a MBP like MagSafe for the iPhone. But now we have USB-C forever.

Looks to me like Apple have accommodated the demand for iPhones being ‘more repairable’ by making the back glass more brittle, knowing it’s a likely revenue stream. Seeing how easy that back glass shattered is kind of outrageous in my opinion. The days of sitting on your phone briefly and getting away with it are over it seems. We shouldn’t be surprised.

I would have thought someone would have posted a dedicated thread about the Pro Max failing Jerry’s durability test. The back glass totally shattered just trying the bend test!

Apple does not want this to get out!

Man, never saw this since the iPhone 6. The back glass on display models will start shattering left right and centre if this is a true design flaw!

We can call ourselves lucky, if Apple doesn't switch out the back with some finewoven **** or something ;)

This is probably connected to the poor fitment of the back glass others felt as sharp! Some one or a bunch are going to lose their jobs on Monday!

Wow, so now you can’t accidentally sit on your phone in your back pocket without worrying about shattered and potentially shards of glass millimeters from your ass!

Wow…

Plot twist: 2024 Apple offs the "Mother Nature" character charade and creates full carbon frames.

I’m okay with bringing SS back if it is brushed instead of polished like the past iphones. I hope Apple keeps the titanium brushed as well if they stay with this metal for future iterations.

I wonder if Apple has a requirement in their spec: “must survive 3/6/10/15/20ft drop”

If they do, it’s probably for function, not external wear/tear. And notice the screen survived most of the drops. The part that matters continued working as promised.

I hope not. Titanium material makes the phone significantly lighter which makes the phone pocket friendly for light material shorts and could prevent from any wardrobe malfunction ;)! I hope Apple keeps titanium material for iPhone Pro lines.

I never understood folks who put their phones in their back pockets. For me, it would be stressful for several reasons

- Fear of it falling out of my back pocket without me noticing ( sitting in a movie theater and no realizing it slipped out of my pocket while sitting).
- Some stealing my phone out of my back pocket ( like in a big crowd or big city like NYC)
- OF course, accidentally sitting on your phone and damaging it

But honestly, if you use a case it will help with that issue.

I know it' going to fall on deaf ears and we are going to see that JerryRig video posted at least 50 more times here lol. But I think what matters more is that the phone still works after drops ( which it does) rather than physical damage. It would be WAY more concerning if the phone completely stopped working after ONE hard drop.
