Simple AirPort Express question

Does the USB port on the AirPort express support an external drive? Mine requires to be plugged in to the wall and it's a pain backing up because then i can't go mobile. If not, are there any products than can do that, that are cheaper or the same price of an AirPort Express?
 
Hmmm, well is there a similar or cheaper product I can use to allow me to have an external drive function as a Network Drive?
