Everyone knows the big update is 2020. USB-C, new form factor. Most likely extremely higher price. This year is enough for me coming from a 6 Plus.

I personally would've loved a ToF sensor on the back for better object separation for Portrait Mode photos, because all of the phones who have it have much better edge detection than iPhones.

This, and higher refresh screen.

I can jive with that, if I had anything less than the iPhone 8 I would consider this a huge upgrade.

I almost don't want to upgrade for 5 years just experience and enjoy something way newer

My level of joy won't be massive coming from iPhone X

And yet it still cost me $999 + tax

While I am happy that Apple is trying to make the $699 phones a better value (more for less), I am waiting until there's an under screen fingerprint reader and a higher resolution screen (Doesn't have to be OLED). Same price and smaller size would be nice too.

All that said, I found myself looking at the white and red 11 a lot today, but the notch snapped me out of upgrading.

What were the rumors? I though they said 120 Hz, reverse charging, tile like solution, 16" MacBook Pro...
What does the 16" MacBook Pro have to do with the iPhone update? Not sure why anyone was expecting that to debut at the September event, a separate October event with Macs has been the preferred norm for years now.

It’s okay for me. I’m not in a hurry to upgrade my phone so that’s why I’m satisfied.

I’ll notice the difference coming from the 7. I do not want or expect more (or I would have bought a different phone or not upgraded). I purchased the 11 Pro 64GB (I have an unlimited data plan) for $650 with the trade in of my 7 32GB. I thought that was a good deal, although I’m locked in for two years on bill credits, but I don’t mind.

Disclosure: I ordered the iPhone 11 Pro, but still voted wanted more. I'm coming from iPhone X

Same, for the most part.

Do I need to upgrade? Not really. I must have gotten a super battery from the factory because I'm at 670 cycles and the battery health is still holding at 95% on my Day 1 iPhone X. It still works well, it's reliable, no real complaints except I do want a better camera (I like the camera in my friend's XS).

Do I want to upgrade? Of course. I want a larger screen but skipped over the XS Max. And the aforementioned camera.

You’re question is about the iPhone then your bringing other non iPhone rumours in to it.
Apple will likely have another keynote next month with mags.

Under screen fingerprint reader feels like an impossibility at this point. At this rate, we'll be lucky to get anything more than a camera upgrade a new color next year. They'll call it, "sunlight orange" lol or something silly and the crowd will go "oooh ahhhh" and life will go on a little less exciting than we had hoped

That's my guess at this point given how things have been lately .

Nothing for me. Sticking with my X. No significant upgrades.

I'd have to agree even though I ordered one. If I don't notice a huge improvement, I might just give it to a family member or close friend.

I’m satisfied. It was predictable. I’m surprised no Face ID upgrade like different angles and stuff.

I'm neutral, neither satisfied nor wanting more at this point. I really had no expectations going into this due to the predictions/rumors indicating that 2020 would be the big update year. I do like the improved screen, improved A13 bionic chip and improved battery life but those are incremental changes. I am also happy that they included the 18W charger in the box this year although I usually wireless charge my devices, but nice to have that option included.

I always get the feeling that with the iPhone, they hold off with things that are no-brainers (like usb c, pencil support, reverse charging) so that they’ve always got something in their back pocket if they can’t offer any real innovation for the next phone.

I almost wish they went to a 2 year cycle so they’d feel more compelled to add significantly different features than the previous model. It’s basically spec bump for 3-4 years, then redesign.
