Since upgrading to 7.0.2 My Apple Watch Series 4 freezes, shuts down, and needs to be put on its charger to turn on (pressing side button and crown does nothing. Anyone else experiencing this? This has been a daily pain.

no issues here ... try rebooting and if that doesn't help, try the unpair/re-pair.
and if you have AC+, call Apple

This began the day I installed 7.0.2, notified Apple. When I saw 7.0.3 come out, I thought they fixed it, but was only Series 3. I am not running out of battery, it happens at 85%, 70%My watch is so unreliable now, have to carry a charger with me to bring it back to life.

Apple just released iOS 14.1 so there’s likely a WatchOS update coming which will hopefully rectify your issue. Might be worth wiping it and setting up from scratch again though to see if that helps.

So it’s shutting down even though the battery says 70%. How old is the watch ? If it’s 3 years+ old the battery may need replacing. Sorry this is happening and wish I could give you a guaranteed fix.

Have you done the unpair and re-pair suggested above?

I've had similar issues, did an OS upgrade, and the watch just started to eat battery, I would get 4-5 hours on a charge if I was lucky.
unpair/repair sorted me right out.

not sure why, but it seems to me, that for the first few days after a re-pair, the watch tends to use more battery than normal, but it gets better in less than a week. Not sure if this is updating stuff in the background, or the watch calibrating it's battery meter.
So if your batter seems a little worse than normal, give it a few days before you start to worry.

This happened to me twice in the last three days both times I was running and streaming music via LTE. It has happened with two different watches (Series 3 and Series 4) and two different running applications. I believe this is an OS bug related to the reporting of the battery level. Both times the watch created LowBatteryLogs in the Diagnostic Logs area of the phone Watch app. Have submitted it to Apple.

I’m familiar with the S3 issues as my wife has one and has been driven mad by it since watch os 7 came out - fingers crossed 7.0.3 fixes that for her.

I have the series 4 however and have had no problems, 7.0.2 is working fine.

I just experienced this on my newly acquired Apple refurbished Series 4 LTE (to replace my Series 4 GPS). The GPS Watch was running 7.0.2 with no problems. However, after setting up the LTE watch last night (which included an update to 7.0.2), it started having issues this morning during a pool swim. Called 911 by itself. After assuring the dispatcher I was ok, I noticed the side button seeming pushing itself. I thought it was a water intrusion problem (which it shouldn’t be), but on the way home, I noticed the Digital Crown was no longer working and the side button continued to seemingly push itself. Tried hard reboot and still same issues. Now I am home and placed on the charger to try and get it back to a state where I can try to unpair / re-pair, but now it is in an endless cycle of rebooting (Apple logo for a few seconds, then disappears and repeats). Seems like I need to get it replaced, but Apple better not try to charge me. No, I did not drop or whack it anywhere. There is obviously no damage, so that should help. I wonder if a software bug only affects the LTE versions of the Series 4?

Update: Just did a chat with Apple Support. Going to send it in for repair. They said if no signs of damage, should not cost me. I took a short video and attached it to the chat message so I at least had that to show that there were no obvious signs of damage. We'll see what they say, but it seems like water must have gotten inside somehow. Will update when I get the watch back.

It's shutting down no matter the charge. I've re-paired it as well and still having the issue. I have a Wi-Fi Series 4.
