"an error occured while trying to complete your task"

this has been happening on my XS (pb1) for several days; she beeps, then i get that error, every time. once she said 'uh oh'... and once, when i asked her where she was, she said 'right here' (a great way to find your phone, btw).

i've rebooted, twice. turned 'hey siri' off, back on. tried changing other things (like the voice; a new voice DOES download).

anyone else?

Is it location based? Here in California I just did two Siri queries successfully on my iPhone. One to ask what time it was and then the population of the planet (returned a Wolfram Alpha) query.

Hope it gets fixed soon for y'all.

I usually get this when I'm on my watch and too far from wifi/phone.

Same for me. I guess we need to throw away our phones and iPads, as they are worthless now.

Siri was working for me last night.

This page isn’t much help, as it shows everything is online and working.

Exactly.. I didnt realize how much I use Siri until it stopped working.. I am like the fat guy from the movie WallE or whatever... Didnt know what to do...

Ya always have to be different in California. :p

I use Siri a lot for Reminders, and checking scores and other internet items from my watch. Now I am lost.

I dont use Siri so I don’t even realise Siri is having problem processing requests. Guess my iPhone and iPad still has tons of uses without Siri.

Great great great movie. :)

And amen to your statement.

huh, she just responded for the first time today: "sorry, something's gone wrong. please try again".

at least she's trying....

Same thing here (also in California). She just started giving this error on all my devices, including my Mac:

I’ve gone through all the steps mentioned here and have even reset one of my devices and completely started from scratch.

Then went through the whole set up process of saying “hey Siri” so ‘she’ learns your voice. She seemed to be working during set up, but then she went right back to the error message once finished.

‘Support’ can’t help. Just spent an hour on phone with tech and a senior adviser, who literally just hung up on me because he couldn’t fix it and said he didn’t “have a superior (except Apple Corporate) who could help me.”

I'm on the dev beta on my phone, watch, computer and it's not working for me on any of those devices. My fiance, sitting here not on the beta, and it works fine. Seems to be something with the beta software. I'm on the east coast, so I don't think it's location specific.

Definitely appears to just be affecting the betas. Catalina is working fine, for instance -- was able to receive the MLB scores for today. Big Sur, iOS 14, watchOS 7 are not working (except for telling a joke, apparently).

Here in Vancouve BC, Siri gives an error occurred message. I have tried every possible sex that I could read about. The strange thing is that my iPad works well with Siri both are on the same network. My wife’s iPhone works fine as well with Siri. They are on iOS 13.6.1

****UPDATE****
seems to have started working for me.
****Further Update****
not fully up and running...
Tried the naming that toon command (Hey Siri, what song is playing?) and after it replied: naming that toon... then it crashed.

Making a phone call works and asking for the time does as well.

Having the same issue since this morning...

that might be oversharing, but it's still the most interesting post on this thread (tho, not surprisingly, did not fix siri) ;)
