Just updated to High Sierra on my White MacBook 2010. I know Siri was supposed to come with a better, more natural, voice like iOS 11 has. So far, every time I use Siri with High Sierra, she sounds the same old way she did before.

What am I missing?

After installing High Sierra it still has to download the high quality voice for whatever country you are in. It will probably happen overnight so you should try again tomorrow.

Same here. Makes sense it might have to download the high quality voice, but no indication of progress in the preferences. Wtf apple?

Well if you really want you can look in the /System/Library/Speech/Voices directory to see if your high quality voice has downloaded yet. The Siri ones are named in the format [Name]Siri.SpeechVoice. For example, I believe the US female one is NoraSiri.SpeechVoice and the UK female one is MarthaSiri.SpeechVoice.
