I purchased this top of the line 2018 15 inch MacBook Pro w/2.9 GHz Core i9 6 core processor w/32GB of RAM. I just updated my Mactracker app and for comparison I checked the speed difference with new 2019 15 inch MacBook Pro w/2.4 GHz Core i9 8 core processor.
My 2.9 GHz Geekbenck score listed is 22432....the new 2.4 GHz MacBook Pro score is 30151! What a difference in throughput.
The new 2.6 GHz Core i7 6 core score is 21478, which is almost as fast as my year old 2.9 GHz Core i9 6 core .
Why Apple is the 2018 2.9 GHz Core i9 6 core so slow? I spent over $3500 for this in January 2019.

You are obviously having buyer's remorse. Most of us who buy computing devices will at some point in their lifetime, myself included. It's always difficult to purchase something recently, then to find out a better version of what you've purchased gets released. Unless you're a hobbyist who has the means to purchase the latest and greatest, you'll always be affected by the fast pace of technology. So if performance of the 2019 models is something that is that you absolutely need, go buy it and sell your old one for a loss.

The 2.4ghz i9 2019 is 8 Cores. The 2018 i9 is 6 cores.

The 2.6ghz i7 2019 6 Core turbo boosts to 4.5ghz and is a 9th Gen processor. The 2.9ghz i9 6 Core turbo boosts to 4.8ghz before suffering throttling due to thermals. It is also a 8th Gen processor. 0.3ghz is not a lot in terms of power and the thermal issues don’t help. Hence the new i7 being closer.
