I've heard the horror stories of more than 3+ exchanges due to the yellow band issue.

I know this issue and will be bothered by it because I've been through it with the 15" Santa Rosa macbook pro (exchanged it 12 times at 2 different apple store).

So far I've sold my 2.26GHz Mac Pro + my 17" uMBP and currently bought the 13" uMBP.

I was looking at exchanging my 13" for a 15" uMBP (matte) but now considering other options.

I already own a 24" LED ACD so I might either sell that if I do go for the 27" iMac OR use it in dual screen with it.

My main reason to go with an iMac is that out of all the hardware Apple is currently offering, I'd feel so much better buying the i7 that the iMac is offering especially moving up to a much bigger screen. Oh and LED backlighting helps as well.

But what do you guys think? My other question is, how hard is it to upgrade the HDD in the 27" iMac??

I just received my iMAc 27" i7 Refur hour ago. I did yellow tint test and it was perfect. Instead of 1 TB. It came with 2 TB harddrive. On Apple store tech spec still show 1 TB HD. I don't know why it comes with 2 TB :) It looks beautiful. You should order one :p

I just ordered mine yesterday. I will update when it gets here, hoping for no problems.

after all the reading I've done on these forums, I'm convinced that a large portion of buyers are compu-hypochondriacs. Every one with a problem, no matter how subtle has been fixed or replaced. The iMacs are now ok! it's alright to buy one, and it's alright to even enjoy it.

There have now been a couple of reports of "gray banding" (which one person claims is on every iMac to some degree), but there are many people who are happy with the new iMacs.

Knowing my luck, I think I'm going to stay away from the 27" iMac.

I'll wait for the 15" unibody mbp to get the i7.

The larger the LCD screen the more difficulty there is in maintaining consistency, especially with such high pixel density. If you look close enough, you'll be able to find problems with just about any 24"+ LCD these days. It really should just come down to whether or not it looks good to you. If you get your imac, and like the way it looks, you don't need to run it through tests, get opinions on blurry photos of it or anything, just enjoy it.

Got my i7 a couple of weeks ago. No probs. It is a sweet machine. Go for it.
