What is “fast charging” then?
From what I understand (when I’ve looked it up in the past), fast charging on some Android phones is 10-15W. Trying to search now but not finding much different. And fast wireless charging on Android is upwards of 15W. Genuinely curious to see any data on fast charging for Android phones.
And from what I recall, since the iPhone 6 (including 6s, 7 and Plus models) the iPhone has been able to charge at 12W using the appropriate charger. Given that the iPhone 7 Plus has an 11.1Wh battery, using the 12W charging you could likely get a full charge in around an hour. Of course though with battery charging the charge rate scales down as the battery approaches full. Also to note, the iPhone 7 has a 7.45Wh battery.
If there is a form of ‘fast charging’ coming to the new iPhones, I wonder what exactly it would be. 29W would seem pretty intense given the size of the batteries in these phones. On the 12.9” iPad Pro (with a 38.8Wh battery), the 29W charger can get it full in 2 hours. That battery is potentially 4 times the capacity of the battery coming in the new OLED iPhone.

Unfortunately, given that the iPad Pros include a 12W charger yet are able to charge at 29W, I doubt a higher rate charging block will be included with the new iPhone.
