iPad Pro So the 2021 M1 iPad Pro 11 is roughly 60% faster than the 2018 iPad Pro 11?

Basically the 2020 iPad Pro 11 was only 8% faster than the 2018 model, and the 2021 iPad Pro 11 M1 is 50% faster from doing some research. I don’t know how to calculate it but I’m guess it’s 60% after you do the actual math.

I’m tempted by the 2021 iPad Pro 11 BUT in all honesty the 2018 iPad Pro 11 I have right now is still going strong and seems pretty fast to me still.

Since the 2018 Pro is still meeting your needs, it seems better to just wait. Something newer and better will be released eventually.

Hopefully we’ll actually see this speed demonstrated in apps and workflows and not just the annual geekbench brags.

That excuse is partly what drove my annual upgrades circa 2011-13. Using the same excuse to upgrade from Air 3 to Air 4.

Alas, can't use that excuse for Pro 10.5 to Pro 11 3rd gen and Pro 12.9 2nd gen to 5th gen.

It’s about 30-40% faster (going by video export timings conducted by MKBHD’s review video), but I agree that unless you have some extremely taxing workflow (photography and video editing are the only two that come to mind), you are likely still well-served by your 2018 model. Or maybe wait till WWDC to see if the 2021 ipad will be getting any exclusive features.

Aside from speed, it would be interesting to see if there are any other intangible improvements. Maybe like the 5G being way faster and work better in low signal areas or FaceID being more capable at different angles.
