I have a M1/16/256 mini. I want to run 2 27" monitors.
95% use is microsoft office, graduate research reading, paper writing, youtube, spotify. I dont need crazy 4K refresh rates, i just want bigger screens to multi task on.

Will these work? Whos running them? Ive tried searching and not much of anything comes up lol. I found a thread where the brand works, but the model references is a higher model than im looking at because the person will be doing gaming and couldnt get refresh rates above 30hz, but i dont need to be 4K 60 if im honest.

Yeah I’m mainly looking for concrete answers of monitors sub $350/ea that are currently working. I don’t need 4K, I just need something guaranteed to be hassle free honestly. Lots of speculation but it seems like posts are never updated.

Best idea I can think of is too look at the online reviews such has Amazon or Best Buy under that Monitor your looking for that would tell you something

Be aware that the display you mentioned in post 1 above is 1440p.
Text displayed at normal font sizes will be a bit on the small side.
How good are your eyes?

Most 27" 4k displays (used with the Mac) will display "looks like 1080p" as the default.

1440 and 27-inch-equivalent ultrawide screen height here - seems fine for text, not headache-inducing (I don't have the sharpest eyes either - e.g. hi-dpi on the computer is completely wasted on me).

May I suggest looking at ultrawide screens (assuming the M1 Mini can handle them): I prefer using a single 34 or 38-inch display over a dual screen setup. So nice to get rid of that border right in the center of the desktop.

I would personally disagree on that.
27" and 1440p is the resolution you should go after if you have a good enough sight and don't care about HiDPI.
I'm writing this from the 27" 1440p Apple Thunderbolt display.
I personally prefer HiDPI so I enjoy more my 27" LG 5k that is exactly the retina equivalent of 27" 1440p.

At this point you are NOT able to run 2 similar Monitors on a mac mini M1.
Please do not laugh or kill the messenger.
I have the same problem.

Is the properly functioning monitor the one using the HDMI port on the mini? From what I have seen its the thunderbolt/usb4 ports that seem to be giving people trouble with external monitors. Curious to see if your experience is the same.

I recently purchased an ASUS ProArt 278QV (27", 1440p) and for $300 it's pretty great. It doesn't have HDR or USB-C, but it is factory calibrated and offers better picture quality than many monitors that do. I also have a ProArt 248QV which is also great if you're looking for something similar to the Cinema Displays of yore (nice 1920x1200 IPS screen). Both have loads of connections, USB ports, and a fantastic stand.
