haha i would but i like my iphone to much ill wait for app tap
I tried it. It works.
I'll just wait for Installer.app
i did it, works great. enjoying nintendo again.
v1.0.2 and holding for Apptapp.
As posed on another thread...do you think Apple is tracking how many of us have upgraded firmware? Anybody know?
I'm betting they do...
so for you guys that braved this- does everything function as it should ie. Phone and voicemail?
Okay I tried it. It works great. I like it.
Yes, Phone, SMS, voicemail still works.
I have a quick question about upgrading a hacked 1.0.2 phone. It seems that I can skip straight to step 3.2 on the iphonealley instructions. Is there any action I need to take before that? Should I delete the 3d party apps I currently have installed? I'll definitely do a sync beforehand to back up everything, but it seems I don't need to do a restore or anything like that, right?
I have yet to update to 1.1.1, when you sucessfully have upgraded, and installed apptapp, did you notice an increase in call, and alert volume?
Great- thanks General-
I'm gonna get started in a bit once i finish downloading everything
Hey so the .ipsw.zip of 1.0.2 unzipped itself and the files are all just in a folder on my desktop- does anyone know how to change this back to just a .ipsw?
Zip it up and rename it to blahblahblah.ispw
Definitely louder (music on max volume now has major clipping problems!) but still not loud enough for speakerphone use in the car on a freeway.
Got it right after i posted that lol..... moving right along....
Trip1Prepz wont load into installer.app tho...... thoughts
You don't need Trip1Prepz. That is for the symlink exploit that allows read/write access to the filesystem once you upgrade from 1.0.2 to 1.1.1, but since 1.1.1 can now be jailbroken, you don't need it. Just install Trip1PogoStick and you're good to go.
So install pogostick from 1.0.2 and then upgrade to 1.1.1? or is there a jailbreak GUI to use now.....
So which method did you use for accomplishing this? Thanks
I performed this two days ago. It's been great. I love the new page based springboard (as opposed to the vertical scrolling summerboard hack of 1.0.x). It makes it much faster to hit the icons exactly where you'll expect them to be.
I'm working on editing my plist (using OS X's plist editor) to display the icons in the order that suits me. It's a bit less convenient having to manually copy in the strings, but it should be easy to write a program to rearrange them (it's simple stuff) for the new springboard.
I've also got a new version of iSplit in the works. So far it's mostly bug fixes, but I think I'm not with those and looking at how to implement the features people have requested. I've already added the ability to have the data not be erased when you leave the program (which is convenient if your freind isn't going to pay you the money until later).
Ohh ... there's no GUI jailbreak method for 1.1.1 yet. I used iPHUC and some command line to put Installer.app on my 1.1.1 phone.
Yeah, learning to use command lines is too useful to hold back. With as many guides as there are on the internet, I'd recommend most people with any tech savy press forward and at least try to figure it out. If something goes wrong, there's always the restore option in iTunes (well, almost always).
I tried it last night and came close to bricking my iPhone. The second time you are supposed to run AppTapp, it still failed.
I was getting the activation screen on the iPhone and it wasn't showing up in iTunes. I had to put it into restore mode to have it show up in iTunes. I might try it again today. (Now that I know what to do if it doesn't show up in iTunes again)
It's pretty straight forward. Go to website, watch Safari crash. Run a few commands in iPHUC (copy and paste) and then boom, you're jailbreaked running AppTapp...
well, I didnt like how not much was compatible with 1.1.1 so i decided to roll back to 1.0.2 after a couple hours of Jailbroken 1.1.1- I think i'm gonna hold off for a while
but yes, the process was pretty simple after I read the whole thing through before starting fresh
Does anyone know if VNsea works on 1.1.1?
I went iPhone dev team's UI based application compatibility list, but didn't find it there.
EDIT: Never mind. I found it. For anyone trying to check working apps on 1.1.1, the list is useful.
