    I'm selling for $500 shipped.

It is a couple years old and shows some signs of wear. See pics below.

    Cosmetic wear
    - The F6 and F7 keys are slightly raised
    - Some light scratches on the top case from spending time with my ac adapter. The only real scratch has been photographed.
    - Bottom case. Looks like a bottom case, its a couple years old, some wear is expected
    - Some random screws are missing, (memory compartment etc)

    Functional
    - My ram died on my after 2 years of use. I had tried my ibook's pc2700 ram in it and it didn't work so I'm basically stuck with the stock unless I want to invest the $ in a new stick of Ram (aprox $70) or show it to an apple repair person to test the ram slot.

    Specs

    PPC G4 1.5 ghz
100 GB 7200 RPM HD (New)
    Stock ram
    Superdrive
64 mb Nvidia GEforce- Dedicated graphics

    Comes With
    - 2 batteries
    - AC adapter
    - OSX installation DVDs

    Selling References
    Onebloodonelife- Sony PSP
    Jersey- Apple iSight
    Eidrunner247- iPod Shuffle

My Ebay feedback score- Note the powerbooks, IWC watches, and rolexes sold

That'd be a real bummer if the slot is dead, since OS X will run like a frozen dog on molasses with only 256mb.......too bad you can't have it tested :(

Can you take the stock and put it in the questionable slot to test the slot? I am interested, but the bad slot might be a dealkiller.

Hrmm... AFAIK the stock RAM is soldered in there, and on this model I believe it was 512mb... I could be wrong of course.

Thats correct, I've got the same system and added a 1 GB stick to make it 1.25 GB of ram.

Actually, I'm not so sure. I don't really notice the speed unless I've using word/DVDs. Maybe this is because of the dedicated vram.

Answer to a couple questions from PMs.

    1. Any other issues performance wise?
-Nope. It is slow when opening micrsoft word/and doesn't do multitasking very well if you're watching a DVD... that's all I can think of. The superdrive, wireless, etc work fine.

    2. How is the battery life for the two batteries that you are including?
    -1 is 100% the other 93%

    3. Screen dead pixels, or pressure points?
-The screen is great with the exception of the light scratch on the bottom left which I had tried to photograph but to doesn't really show, its not really noticeable anyway.
Likewise, as you can see on the photo (taken this week) there are no pressure points, although I think one may be forming (not noticeable enough to photograph).

    4. Can you elaborate on the RAM issue? So you are are unsure whether the issue is the ram or the ram slot?
I had tried the PC2700 from my ibook and it doesn't work in the powerbook. I could test the ram slot with one of your sticks if you're local but otherwise it doesn't make sense for me to invest $ in buying ram for a powerbook that I'm going to sell when I could buy a 2GB stick for my current laptop instead.

I would say with 99% certainty that it is dead. Otherwise, why wouldn't he just take it to apple and have it tested?

Thanks for the question. I live in a small college town and the nearest apple store is 3.5 hours away. I'm in grad school now and i don't have the time to make a trip over have it looked at.

In anycase the buyer and i have run multiple tests and this thread has fulfilled its purpose. Thanks for your concern.

I'm writing here to note that i have had problems with the buyer of this item who without first notifying me filed a paypal suit alleging that he was not told about:
-the ram issue as noted in the sale thread
and several other issues which are not applicable to this item (Intermittent shutdown, faulty backlighting, malfunctioning latch, etc)

Since Paypal has closed this dispute, I feel confident in saying Seller beware.

First i did notify which you denied a refund for the powerbook, and i was aware of your issue with the ram but you played it off like a new stick of ram could fix it.. you knew that there were major issues that you didnt disclose about the powerbook.. and now you wont issue a refund there for im stuck with a powerbook with a messed up logic board..

i tried to but apparently paypal will only do this if something is messed up with the item during shipment... which means it could of been messed up even worse than it is and id be out 425$ I say 425 because crazybuba sent me 45$ for a good faith to basically pay for the powerbook to get checked out.. which i went ahead and did as soon as it came in costing me 65$ and they said there are numerous issues not just a dead ram slot.. But he doesnt care cause he got his money.. and thats it..

I don't think you understand what a chargeback is. You did not file a chargeback. You filed a dispute through PayPal. A chargeback is filed through your credit card company, NOT PayPal. That is, assuming you paid via credit card. If you paid via PayPal funds or eCheck, you are SOL, unfortunately.

I can't say I didn't feel fishy about this whole thread. Things don't just "die" on a logic board, its either whacked out or its not. He was so elusive about giving a specific yes or no answer on the RAM issue that I really don't blame you.

Regardless, it does seem you misunderstand what a chargeback is. The following only applies if you paid with a credit card or bank account through PayPal, not if you paid out of your fund balance. If you did pay with a CC or bank payment, then you can contact your issuing bank and have them reverse the charge.

Firstly, we knew that it was a 50/50 chance that the slot was dead, in fact in your PMs that was the reason that you didn't want to pay $500. I also ram a couple tests at your request to ensure that you were satisfied with its condition.

The initial email that I had received said that the ram slot is dead. For me a refund wouldn't make sense because I had previously disclosed this issue and if I took the item back, I'd have to refund from my credit card and just sell the item again.

Please note that I was never told about "backlighting issues", "protruding dents" etc until I saw the case filed against me by paypal.

By the time that you had asked the question Josh and I had run through two ram tests on the system and I had explained that there is a possibility that it may not work. Taylor, the computer is fully functional, there were no additional problems with the exception of its problem with taking ram.

I would not initiate this discussion if i did not feel that there was some dishonesty on the part of the buyer. He had my phone number at all times and yet contacted paypal first with a set of issues that I do not know if they actually exist or not.

When asked why he filed before talking to me, he stated that:
"well man i didnt think you would offer any kinda a refund and this machine is pretty much useless to me, can you refund me another 50$ and we will call this even i think thats fare."- a screen shot including headers is attached below.... and this is after I had refunded $45 on my own accord, in good-will, to help compensate for the getting a diagnostic done. This doesn't make sense.

For someone to go from filing a claim for $475 without talking with the seller to settling for $50 is what I would call 'fishy'...

These compounded factors result in my distrust of the buyer. I would be more than happy to follow up with any pertinent information.

Nothing seems fishy to me. He was quite clear on the possible issues. It sounds like the buyer received it and just felt unsatisfied. The backlight looks fine in the pictures. CRAZYBUBBA even reduced the price to $425 in order to provide for the cost of service to check things out. Goodluck to all.

Seller Beware? Quite the opposite...the fact is the issues were not fully and completely disclosed. Period. End of story. If I had know that this existed I WOULD NOT HAVE PURCHASED THIS ITEM. The seller knew of these issues and did not fully disclose, to get a higher price than it is worth. If it was any of you who purchased an item that had problems like this that you didn't expect, you would want a refund as well. The bottom line is this seller is dishonest and doing damage control to save his rep. I asked for the additional 50$ because this seller refused to refund my money, and the price of this item should have been lower than 425$ with a dead ram slot. Of course the problems arent visible in the photos, exactly why I purchased it.
