Now tally up the stats of mass shootings.

I can guarantee you mass shootings with assault rifles have a much higher average wounded and fatality rate vs mass shootings with hand guns or non assault rifles.

Its almost as if you get rid of the guns the amount of gun-related violence goes down. A real mystery that one.

A lot of good links to primary research in the above article about Australia's success story, and soon to be New Zealand's success story.

A person can shoot 50 people without breaking a sweat. Much harder to stab 50 people. They run away, I have to get close, they may know martial arts better than I, and disarm me putting myself in harm's way. Plus the knife doesn't go all the way in. It's a real chore by comparison.

Interesting info. With respect to rifles, other than 2016 and 2017, the trend is downward with rifles regardless of ban or no ban. I wonder what happened in 2016 to make people go off the rails. ;)

Using Australia is a bad example IMO. They never had that many shootings and firearms to begin with. Australia confiscated 650K firearms... in the US we have more than 400M firearms already.

There is no martial art that can really help you that much with knives. A knife is incredibly deadly due to the fact that even defending yourself (let's say with a block) will result in serious injury. In many cases it will be easier to get away from a knife than from a gun, but a knife is horrible too.
Someone who's intentioned to kill a bunch of people will simply rent a UHaul truck and kill during a gathering/festival. It's not that difficult, and I expect for it to happen in the US sooner rather than later.
