However, even though I live near the Big Chicken I did not notice the article soon enough to drive by it to see if the poster really is there.

I am trying to find similar "protests" against Bush #2, I know they occurred but the exact nature escapes me; go figure it was eight years ago. I do like the parody being done but I figure someone will find racial overtones in it where there are none.

It is always good for a country when it is not so afraid of its leaders that it can do this. Whether or not it is a true observation (socialism) is up to the viewer. I do think that too much too fast is going to marginalize President Obama sooner than he thinks. That and allowing Congress free reign will do more damage to his image than he suspected. He played the "Blame Bush" card too long and "Blame Congress" really doesn't work for a President, especially when that Congress is majority your party.

I don't have to live nearby to tell you the poster wasn't there. The white balance is completely off, and the poster is strictly aligned to the frame, which would be a dead giveaway all by itself even if the poster's perspective didn't completely fail to match the sign the poster is supposed to be on. Which it does.

It's not just photoshopped, but badly so.

Yeah plus if the "someone" trying to make the "statement" isn't the OP, then why would the OP wish to help propagate such a "statement."

I'm usually in favor of graffiti, tags, stickers, paste ups. This is no exception. I kind of wish I had it as a sticker.

This type of visual expression is so interesting because you can't argue with it. Whether you think Obama's a socialist or a conservative democrat doesn't matter, the "underground" language of paste-ups are on a different level in terms of credibility and whatever you think "truth" is. The aesthetics of the poster itself will help propagate it.

    Barack Obama has a posse.

    Im going to be honest:
I like the way it looks.
But the Joker was not a socialist.
Obama is nothing like the joker.

I wont lie, it looks really cool, and from an artistic PoV, I like it a lot.
But as far as "statements" go, I am not moved or swayed to the artists opinion. AFAIC, they have failed in this regard.

Yeah- they did a good job aesthetically, I just don't get the reference. The Joker was a socialist? Huh?

No, see, it's subtle. The Joker and Obama share in common the trait that neither of them is a socialist. It's all about the negative space.

Yeah, I thought The Joker was more of an anarchist. *shrug*

And yeah, I think the posters on the concrete pillar look 'shopped, too.

I honestly don't get the socialist reference either. I personally would have gone with "Monster" or "Villain."

The references to Obama as the Joker or the two having common political ideologies are too shallow and obvious. The real meaning, to me, would be much more sinister. As in Obama is duping everyone especially his supporters in regards to the road he's actually taking the nation down. This makes much more sense than the whole "Obamer and teh joker aren't so similar," nonsense.

    Why so serious?

Who's being serious? I think it's hilarious. I got a good giggle out of it. :)

The Joker's tag line was "Why so serious?"

Anyway, dumb poster. Well done artistically, but its point is ambiguous at best.

I know what the tag line was. I just don't think it makes any sense in context of the poster. And if nobody gets it, what's the point?

I think the poster is shallow and obvious though.
    Joker=bad
    Obama (and socialism)=Joker
    Obama (and socialism)=bad

Wouldn't Jack Nicholson's Joker be more appropriate if this was the parallel that was supposed to be drawn? Granted I only saw TDK once, and that was in the theater, but I don't remember TDK Joker using economic ruin to capture the heart's and mind's of the Gotham public only to kill them in the end (which is what Jack's Joker did).

I do like the way it looks though.

Obama has gone straight passed Socialism into Psychopathy! You can tell by the way he giggles and licks his lips. Luckily, Batman is here to save the world:

Well, as Tomorrow said, the Joker was an anarchist. In that sense, his m.o. fits the previous administration better than it fits this one, although in my opinion it doesn't really fit either one particularly well.

Now those Darth Cheney pictures...those were more dead-on. :D

Maybe they think its a good idea as Batman was a white vigilante, head of a large corporate empire and unbelievably rich.

I mostly remember Bush getting captured with "stupid" looks on his face or the chimp thing. I'm sure there was more but nothing compared to Obama's first year. Bush got off easy. None of it is really surprising.
