I recall reading about Sony Music suing Sony Electronics a few years ago over music piracy. The music division was annoyed about piracy, Electronics were happy for anything that helped move their mp3 players.

That's certainly not conducive to a successful company. Sounds like Sony is on the right path (finally). I do really like Sony's products (their laptops are imo the sexiest in the industry short of the aluminum Apples).

Steve said years ago that they regarded Sony as the most comparable to Apple, eg: with the Vaio. I don't know what on earth happened for them to lose their way so badly that only now are they starting to get back on track and resume the place they occupied in, like, 2001. Even in the AV electronics game, they're not the yardstick they used to be.

I mean, what happened to the company that positively owned the video game market with the PS2, and only a single console generation later, they're drowning? Stagnation, lack of innovation, bad pricing, market arrogance, I guess, since in the same period, Nintendo blasted past both Sony and Microsoft, from #3 back to their old #1 spot.

We have been somewhat spoiled by Apple and Steve. Every product, every iteration has been one improvement and one increase in marketshare after another, while other companies take wrong steps (Dell, Microsoft). Even if they are still considerably large.

    The thick of it
I'm not sure how many 16-year-olds have a big wallet in the current economy.

Good question. But then again, why bother? The trick is to come up with something better than the iPhone.
