Sotomayor was just confirmed. Not surprised.

    That's all.

Edit: Whoops, this was supposed to be in Current Events.

Only so many of us can say "I knew it would happen." This is the better place.

No republicans voted no on John Roberts!

    What's your point?

I'm not sure if they did either senators from Virginia but I would expect maybe one democrat from any of the states to be doubtful, although they didn't go through all 100 people.

All Democrats were there and voted Yes except for Ted Kennedy who wasn't at the vote due to his illness, but he would've voted yes.

I appreciated Sen. Al Franken getting the nod to preside over the confirmation.

I would watch a TV show called Hispanic Justice so long as it had a priest called Monsignor Martinez who has a cool catchphrase before he shoots someone.

    "Vaya con dios."

    Bang!

Wasn't there some form of controversy surrounding the appointment? I am not an American so I have not been able to follow the whole issue

She's slightly to the left of Mussolini and has (gasp) brown skin so for those reasons alone some Americans find her controversial.

Definitely was controversy, not enough to rally against though, she was taking the place of another liberal judge anyways. If one of the conservative judges falls off the bench I imagine we will see some fireworks.

Her past comments is what made this a controversial case and the fact that you are basically locked into this position until you die if you wish. Not to be taken lightly.

Wasn't she accused of being racist or something along those lines?

“I would hope that a wise Latina woman with the richness of her experiences would more often than not reach a better conclusion than a white male who hasn’t lived that life,” said Judge Sotomayor

Of course later on she said she didn't really mean it that way or some other BS designed to get her out of the cowpile, but there you are.

Is she racist? Go read how she dealt with the Ricci case and you can decide for yourself.

    Reminds me of this:

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NyvqhdllXgU

A black man likes another black man because he's black.

I was watching channel 7 and they were interviewing a bunch of hispanic people.

A hispanic person likes another hispanic person because he/she is hispanic.

It's really ridiculous. I bet none of the people on the news that were interviewed knew anything about her at all.
