Here
in iOS 10, I have noticed a few random songs display a star to next their name in the iOS Music app. These songs are not yet rated in iTunes, so I have no idea what it means. Any ideas?

I wonder why they show up on your iPad when Apple Music is off.
I have songs bought from iTunes Store but they don't have such star on songs in my library.

These are 'popular songs' based on Apple Music ratings.

Oh, okay. When I tried to google it prior to this thread I could only get info on star ratings.

It kind of annoys me simply because it's unrelated to my library. You're right, Apple Music is off, I've never even used the trial and I disable every component of I can in restrictions as well. Oh well, no harm done I suppose.
