Steve Jobs threw out the NEW Apple TV UI five years ago

    It is nice, simple and fast. It works for me.

    However I hate to play my movies form ATV3 because there are not many options like variable zoom and stuff. I will wait for the JB then it will be great!

    In the mean while I love my WD Live TV!

    Former employee as the news source...not exactly unbiased and without corroboration, perhaps not valid. And Jobs was known to go back to previously discarded ideas.

    iTunes App Store opened 7/2008. Not sure if UI was even on the table for AppleTV then. The current look brings a symmetry appearance among the AppleTV, the desktops, and the iDevices more than the old column and lists did. And since Jobs undoubtedly crafted the look of iOS and Lion, I find the AppleTV appearance to be logical.
