The great state of Texas
I read and article in about Apple stores being broken into. There are also reports of people selling stolen computers on EBAY and Craigslist. With the soon to be released Haswell causing and uptick in used 2012s on the market I was wondering.

1) How would you know if it is stolen?
2) If you took it in for service would Apple alert you or call the Constable?
3) How can you avoid purchasing a stolen machine.
4) What if you purchased a used machine and it had someone else personal data on it.
5) Would apple care still be valid. Is it transferable.
6) If you found out that your machine you purchased was stolen would you return it to the rightful owner

Ask for the S/N and check with Apple?

If you think you need to do this, you probably already have your answer.
