A friend of mine with an iPhone 6 with iOS 11 says that when she is in a phone call and then wants to switch to the speaker (on the phone) and taps the speaker icon the phone sometimes switches immediately to the speaker and sometimes gives her three options to choose from: 1.) iPhone, 2.) Speaker, 3.) MacBook. She then has to tap a second time onto "Speaker" to activate the iPhone speaker.

She does not want to have the three options ever; she always wants to switch straight to the iPhone speaker.

How can the "three options option" be disabled?

On the iPhone go to Settings>Phone>Calls on other devices>Turn it off for the MacBook.

If for whatever reason that doesn't remove that you may need to go to Settings>General>Handoff and turn that off

Instead of MacBook, mine has been offering iPad as an option; strange indeed.

its been noted in other threads that in the latest iOS version it seems to be seeking these options out as Airplay devices.
probably need to wait until next update to get more precise controls.

It's kind of annoying, because while there wasn't really an elegant solution for handing off calls between devices, this isn't a good fix either. Invoking speakerphone with one tap was a convenience that is now removed with a half-baked solution for handing off calls. And I don't think disabling calls on other devices is a reasonable suggestion for a fix, since it is disabling other functionality some people may use and enjoy. I, for one, will frequently take calls on my iPad with headphones, which is something I would lose just to regain the speakerphone simplicity on the phone.

Fair enough, I take calls on my MacBook Pro all the time so I definitely know what you're saying.

It’s a feature in iOS 11. You can continue a phone call on other devices you own. As said before you can disable this by going to the Settings App>Phone>Calls on other devices>And disable the option for your MacBook.
