Student Discount Question

Im not sure if this is the appropriate question to ask, but...

Does Apple run any "Background check" on student discount purchases?


I will be purchasing a 24'' iMac for my girlfriend, and I wanna take advantage of the back to school deal to save me couple of bucks, but both of us have graduated last December.
Can I just walk in the store and show them my expired student ID and buy it (Does not have date on the ID)?
