I have a question about the Apple's current 'Student Union' promotion. It says that if you buy a mac you get a free iPod mini. Or you can take the $224 and purchase a higher end iPod. If I bought a mac, could I take the $224 and put it toward the purchase or my mac instead of buying an iPod?

I am almost positive you can't put it towards a mac but you can for a bigger iPod or you could sell your iPod mini for $150 and put that towards it. Im not sure if im understanding you question correctly.

Apple gives you $179 back towards any iPod except for the shuffles. You must purchase (on the same receipt) a qualifying iPod as well as a qualifying Mac. So no, you can not take $179 and put it toward your computer (if you don't get an iPod). Here's a link for more info.

I have a couple questions about the two iPod promos.

1. Can I purchase a non-refurbished 30 GB iPod from the "Sales" part of the online website with the iPod $179 rebate?

2. The free engraving, does that include the U2 Special Edition?

3. Also, can I use those two promos in conjunction with the printer promo?

Thanks for all the help up front.

Ok, so i can't. Oh well.

As for Chef Medeski;

1. Not sure if you can

2. Yes, I believe a free engraving includes the U2 edition

3. I think you could, but not 100% sure

I'm pretty sure you can't get the U2 Special Edition engraved, because it's already engraved with the band's signatures all over the back.

Oh, right, I forgot that the U2 iPod was already engraved.

1. The offer states...
Buy a qualifying iBook, iMac, PowerBook, or Power Mac computer and an iPod...

• Products must be purchased from the Apple Online Store for Education Individuals, an Apple retail store, Apple Telesales, or an Apple Authorized Campus Reseller located in the United States or District of Columbia.

• QUALIFYING PRODUCTS: Apple iMac, iBook, PowerBook, or Power Mac purchases qualify for this offer. The eMac and Mac mini product families are excluded from this offer. The 12-inch iBook with CD-ROM drive is also excluded from this offer. iPod, iPod mini, and iPod photo qualify for this offer. iPod shuffle is excluded from this offer. (Qualifying iPod Part Numbers: M9829/P9829, M9802/P9802, M9800/P9800, M9804/P9804, M9806/P9806, M9801/P9801, M9803/P9803, M9805/P9805, M9807/P9807, M9830/P9830, M9282/P9282, MA079/PA079). This offer is not valid with the purchase of used equipment, reconditioned equipment, demonstration units, or refurbished equipment.

• You must purchase all qualifying Apple products at the same time on the same sales receipt to be eligible for the mail-in rebate. The mail-in rebate is good for up to $179 off of a qualified purchase. Rebate amount is not to exceed the sales price of the iPod excluding sales tax.
So, as long as the iPod you want to buy is one of the model numbers listed above and is not a refurbished unit, then it ought to qualify.

2. No. Due to the U2 members signatures already in the engraving area on the iPod U2.

3. Yes. Well, you can't use the free engraving on the iPod U2, however you can use the free engraving on an iPod or iPod mini. And get a rebate on the iPod. And use the printer promo.
