Sudden appearance of many disk images.

Mojave 10.14.5 on 2018 Mini.

I had an odd thing yesterday.

Mac had been on all day, but when I logged in last night around 20-25 disk images were sitting on the desktop. Mostly for applications I have, or have had, but generally older versions which I have not had on this Mini.

Concerned, I just deleted them and they haven't reappeared.

I have Intego & Little Snitch which don't show anything out of the ordinary, but could some nasty-ware have been installed?

OK, i guess nobody else has had this! Still think it’s strange behaviour.

Any chance they were sitting on an NAS or other storage device that was connected?

Did you inspect any of them to make sure they really were the images, in case they were links/aliases of some kind?

It's never happened to me, though. I'll be interested to see if anybody knows why it happened. My interest doesn't help you, I know.

The only attached drives are Carbon Copy copies and Time Machine..... I didn't recognise some of the applications. I just deleted them in case they were dodgy!!
