Hey there, I`m from Germany, so no english mother tongue, so pls be lenient with my writing....

A few hour`s ago in the middle of a gaming session I noticed that the FPS rates abruptly fall from around 60 to 30 frames. Ok., so I checked several things, cable, restarted the Mac, checked another game, etc. and no improvement with the frame rates. Ok., subsequently I double checked the graphic performance by another app, only to exclude any issues with the game itself and/or Steam.

So I checked again the Metal and OpenCL performance with Geekbench 6, what I already had done too weeks ago. The results approved my findings in the games: the benchmarks showed appr. 20...25% lower results compared with the former results with this Mac.

Hmmm, a little bit concerned I contacted the Apple support: the experience with the first person was disillusioning - this guy not even understood the issue itself. After a while and additional discussios I got another, a little more skilled person on the line.... but finally he pointed out that I`d installed MacOS 26.1 Beta and under these conditions he was not able to help in that case in any direction. Ok., from this side currently is no help to expect until I`d have an official macos release again on my MacStudio.

Anyhow, I´m a little concerned about any hardware issues, because it`s at least strange that the gadget with the beta-OS version has been working very properly and suddenly this graphic issue occures. Ok., it`s software, nothing is impossible... but...
Is it thinkable, that a part of graphic cores could get out of function? It feels for me like this, but I`ve never heard about such a error pattern.
The Apple guy at least said "this was not possible, without showing add. significant strange impacts....

THX for your thoughts! After a few days desperate checking all the thinkable and unthinkable reasons - I found it finally...
I remembered that a few days ago played around a little with the Studio and it`s settings. Checked all the options very thoroughly if any stupid changing had been done by him. Finally it came to the energy settings ... and I saw that a kind of "power saving modus" was activated. And , heureka, that indeed was the reason!
I mean in principle such an impact should be expectable - but I`ve never expected to find such an option for a desktop mac!? That does make absolutely no sense for a device without a battery. So from this perspective I never guessed that such an option could be a realistic reason ....

Ok., some additional learning... ;-) What I learned as well, was that I´should not expect to much helpful support by the "experts" of Apple in such a tricky situation. At least this experience was valuable for me....
