Superdrive scratching CDs in XP when installing 2 CD game

I have been trying to install SimCity 4 deluxe edition. CD 1 installs fine, but when I put in CD 2, the drive makes scratchy like noises and when I eject the CD it IS scratched. I got new CDs, they installed fine on my other PC, but I am scared to try them again. Has anyone had problems with the Superdrive in XP like this?
