Syncing outlook to Entourage

Hmmm... Apologies if this has been covered elsewhere but I haven't been able to put my finger on an easy solution for my entourage problem.

Essentially, I just want to be able to able to sync my Office Outlook calender with my Mac Entourage calender ( I can then get all my work appointments on my iphone).

I've heard there is a way you can go:

Outlook ---> google calender ---> iCal ---> entourage ---> iphone

But this seems all a little convoluted, surely there must be an easier way?

It would be nice to think that M$ email clients would be cross platform compatible but I wouldn't be surprised it it wasn't the case...

My home (Entourage 2004) and work (Outlook 2007) calendars sych automatically via the Exchange server.

What if you do not have an exchange server?

So presumably I need to speak to my IT manager at work to set up the Exchange server?

Or is it easy to do this from home?
