Talk and Text at the Same time?

Im curious. I've never actually owned an iPhone (Verizon.) and I'll finally be getting the 4S.

Im currently on an LG Env Touch, and When I'm talking on the phone, I can also send a text, access the menus, etc etc.

Is this possible on the iPhone? (I know ATT can Web browse, etc etc. Whatever) Can I be on the phone talking to someone, And while still talking, Send a text?

You should be able to. SMS/MMS are not sent/received over data.
