It seems like Target would prefer to keep firearms, out of their property to create a better environment.

Will this affect you shopping at Target? I do not normally shop there, but this is a good call.

No, I don't shop at Target anyway.

    But good on them.

Yes, I try to avoid Big Box stores myself, but in a pinch I will go to a target sometimes

The closest "big store" to me is Walmart, so I generally go there if I need to go get something.

Question if you live in one of those "packing" states and a registered gun owner carries a gun into a store with a no gun policy, are they subject to arrest?

I don't believe so, you can be asked very nicely to leave.

I would assume, the Police would be called if the gun owner refused to leave Target property.

Gun rights do not override property rights.

I think they should be arrested. This is serious business.

Well, if they refuse to leave, that's trespassing. But only once they are asked to leave. I don't think that they can have you arrested for breaking a store policy, but they can for breaking an actual law.

Introducing a gun into a gun-free space, just like an illegal gun, not that I'm holding my breath for this to happen. :p

I don't think Target will call the cops right away if you have a gun on a holster and are not law enforcement.

However, if you are asked to leave and refuse, that is where the cops get called.

Agreed. Their stores are private property, so they can set whatever policy they want for their store and property. If people don't like that, they are free to raise the none to buy them out of the property.

Same here. The only time we will ever step foot in a Walmart is when they are the only option in town. Some very small towns have Walmart for their only source of commerce, as they have driven out every other type of business, so sometimes you do not have a choice.

It depends on the state, even if there is a sign prohibiting firearms. The store/property owner can ask you to leave. If you don't, you can be charged with trespassing.

This really doesn't effect me.....I'm not really a "gun person" anyway, but I don't think this will have a huge impact. Nobody is walking through stores with exposed firearms like the morons in Texas did. People that weren't carrying before will continue to not do so and those who have concealed carry permits and have carried before will continue to do so.

I only shop there occasionally, but, this is a small plus. I will try to remember to mention this to the checker as a positive the next time I shop there.

I feel companies like target have to do this, because of people who open carry into family business's with long guns.

True, but I get the feeling that we will have people like the aforementioned morons in Texas that will try to take them into Target, just to spite them and their announcing of this policy.

Someone is going to do it, leading to an argument leading to the police being called, leading them to get the attention they want.

I do seriously hope I am wrong, though.
