I am not really concerned about a possible $125 ( or so) price increase.

For the 11R no problem but for the Max version will be more than $200 increase.

I doubt most people would care much about 30% price increase. The thing that China is working on a self-sustained system means USA might be hurt more in the long run.
About Australia, I think I will be fine for a while? We are already paying 30% more than US citizens. Don’t mind seeing that price increase on US market. :p

The tariffs will only apply in the value that Apple buys it from Foxconn. The margin is made in the US. They probably only pay $250 or less on an XS, so the increase will not be in the hundreds. Agree with comments that it will hurt more the US, as then the tariffs apply in the full price if the product!

iPhone Xs Max in year one of three. Not concerned at all.

As a matter of fact in 2021, 2022 or beyond I'll be investigating FULLY, my smart phone choices.

Only thing that will be able to keep in the ecosystem blindly, is if I'm able to get a MacBook in the next year or so.

The BOM cost for XS Max is $390-$443. Apple likes to mark things up by 2.5-3X. If the tariff is 10% and Apple wants to pass on the costs, it'll be at least a $100 markup.

I approve of the tariff. This will give me a great reason to keep my phone for another year and save bucks

Ok, I trust your number more than mine.
Ok, assuming a BOM of $450. The tariff applied with 10% will make it $495.
The old cost at 3x mark up makes it $1350, with tariff is would be $1485, and that indeed maximum $135 at max BOM.
Correct. However increases at $250-300 don’t make sense.
What do you guys thing will be the consequence? Will consumer be ready to pay for an increase or would it reduce the demand?

If Apple gets hit with 10%, they'll probably eat some of the $45 by offering less base storage (i.e. stay with 64GB even if they were planning 128GB). Maybe in combination with a $50 markup. I would also expect Apple to slightly increase everything across the board: accessories, cables, AppleCare+, etc.

Question is does this impact Canadian price. If no, then I don’t care. If yes, then I will stay with my refurbished iPhone 8 Plus then.

Unless you are willing to pay 13% extra for taxes, at least in Ontario.

Meh. He'll change tack at some point in the next two weeks, which will send the market soaring. He keeps doing this for two reasons.

    1. He gets off on the ability to push the market up or drah the market down on a whim.

    2. He tells his friends what he's gonna say and when he's gonna say it, this allowing them to "time" their trades and make $$$$.

I’m not upgrading mine (XS Max) or my daughter’s iPhones (X) this year. I have a year to decide if I want to pay outright or go through our carrier to upgrade. I figured prices on iPhones would eventually increase again.

Does your daughter really need an upgrade, though? The X is still a very capable phone. I'm guessing she's a teenager. I don't see the point if the device will last for another 2 or 3 years. Especially with the way teenagers take care of their property.

She’s 7.5yo and I was thinking of getting her the XR(she like the colors). She’s very responsible and works hard in school for her phone. Plus we are thinking of switching to Verizon from T-Mobile, so we would need new phones.

Yes there is still a trade war. It’s being made worse and worse and yet the people who get hurt the most are the ones who elected 45.

Nah, he’s just a con-man who has no clue what he’s doing or how to run this country. His brainwashed cult members don’t even know what tariffs are so they don’t care. Hell, he doesn’t even know what tariffs are since he thinks China pays for these tariffs.

Well lookie what we have here.

Trump says they're going to delay the latest round of tariffs. I wonder how much stock Trump and Company bought in the last two weeks.
