Should make the NRA proud now that schools are so very much safer. this is the second accidental discharge in a school in 2 weeks going good for sure.

SALT LAKE CITY (AP) — Officials say a Utah elementary school teacher who was carrying a concealed firearm at school accidentally shot herself in the leg when the weapon discharged in a faculty bathroom.

Granite School District spokesman Ben Horsley says the gun went off shortly before class started Thursday at Westbrook Elementary School, in the Salt Lake City suburb of Taylorsville. He says the teacher was severely injured when the bullet entered and exited her leg, and she was rushed to the hospital.

No other faculty or students were in the area.

Officials are still investigating how the gun discharged.

shame we live in a society where women are forced to arm themselves because misguided oxygen leeches (SOME teens) love to beat up people just for giggles http://forums.macrumors.com/showthread.php?t=1776056

sad she was hurt but glad she was the only one, restroom breaks are pretty dangerous when you carry.
those elementary school bullies are getting pretty tough.

----------

Well, you go to school to learn something. Mission accomplished.
I debated on using the fark headlines it fits better.

I'm no gun expert (heck I know next to nothing about guns:p), but don't all guns a "pew"/"no pew" settings? I think gun owners call it a safety catch. This "accident" could have been avoided. Just saying.

depends on the gun/method of carry. a purse full of crap where things might get in the trigger housing is NOT a safe way to carry at all.

Manual safeties are largely obsolete. The more important rule is to never beach the trigger guard plane unless you are intending to shoot something. Also, use a holster.

What business is it of yours that a random woman hurt herself?

1. As a teacher, according to the NRA, she'd be the 'good guy with a gun'.

2. She's a teacher, AT SCHOOL, with a gun. Children were there at the time, though it was prior to classes starting.

3. Children could have been injured by her carelessness of bringing the gun to school.

4. If the district classified schools as 'gun free zones', she would be arrested for violating it. Lucky for her, it isn't.

If a child was killed or injured because this, you don't even want to fathom the problems that would arise from this. You don't. That's why it is a serious issue, and why it is debatable. A school should at the very least be a safe haven from incidents like this, not a place where it could potentially or even accidentally happen.

are you aware that cops have done "demonstrations" on negligent discharge at schools?

She could be arrested and charged, sure. This guy was arrested and charged, and the felony charges dropped.

Article

Dwayne Ferguson spent more than a decade advocating for nonviolence and peace in the streets of Buffalo.

He was a well-known face in the movement for the SAFE Act, the state law that made carrying a gun on school property a felony. He was also a familiar presence in the hallways of the city’s Harvey Austin Elementary School, where he worked in the after-school program and mentored students.

No one imagined that on Thursday he would show up at the school in possession of a gun, touching off an hours-long lockdown, search and ultimately his arrest on two felony charges.

Ha, MANY of today's "children" have no problems going to the market to beat up others just for fun.

Sounds like you're trying to engage people in a discussion that's already covered in another thread you started.

Perhaps you should stick to the topic of this thread.

males/females, makes no different, kids knocking out teachers as shown above, just for "fun"
As sickening as that is, I am not sure what good a gun would do if someone succor punches you when you aren't looking.

The technical language is "keep your booger hook off the banger switch."

...and use a holster...

When carrying a pistol it is vital that the trigger guard is protected from catching, snagging, whatever...or else...
