Perhaps she'd like to pay her respects as well?

With something as tragic as this that has happened, we all should take a step back and realize that they are humans with families first, politicians second.

I wouldn't give a crap if Obama asked Bush (both of them), Clinton (both of them), Trump, Pelosi, and Cruz to fly with him to Dallas, as they are going for a very solemn memorial service, not to politick.

I expect nothing of the Texas delegation - because Texas - but House leadership is certainly appropriate if they want to go.

Obama's speech was very eloquent. He got a little Bill Clinton disease at the end (going on too long), but his words were honest, unifying and optimistic.

“We flood communities with so many guns that it is easier for a teenager to buy a Glock than get his hands on a computer or even a book.” -Obama

I don't know, but there are public funded schools and libraries all over the place. My wife and I take my kids to about a half dozen different libraries around Albany NY. They constantly have events going on, and we usually leave with books every time, then my kids expect me to read a couple every night. We have no issues getting our hands on books.....now where can I get a gun this easy? I don't know, bottom line. It's bad parenting, so lets blame the gun.

    He is correct.

Should a teenager be buying a gun? 18 years or older, then he's wrong. 17 or younger?

I just listened to his comment, in context. He was referring to the investments we make in the inner cities. And he is right. In the inner cities and poor neighborhoods where high tech investments have not been made, it IS more likely that they will have access to a gun before a computer. We need to do more for the inner cities and th poorer neighborhoods. The same educational opportunities are not there. Heck, the same grocery store shopping opportunities are not there. We must do better.

I don't know how true the book part of that statement is though.

Maybe you need to take a reading comprehension course or you're just being obtuse.

Obama said it is easier for teenagers to buy a gun than it is to get their hands on a book. It is in fact NOT easier to buy a gun. Kids can go to stores and buy a book or just walk into a library or a school and get one for free.

In order for a teenager to get a gun in the streets you have to purposely go to some shady street and talk to some shady people, have some cash. To be honest, I wouldn't even know where to start looking or who to ask. Buying a gun in the streets is in fact not easy, unless you have terrible parents and you have been hanging out with the wrong crown for some time.
    --- Post Merged, Jul 12, 2016 ---

It isn't true...he made a comparison about which is easier...There isn't a single place in the USA where it's easier to buy a gun than to "get your hands on a book".
