Story just breaking now on CNN.

Bad news, but given his age, not entirely unexpected. :(

That's too bad. As wacky as he can be at times, we still need the guy.

It's too bad that anyone gets something as horrible as a brain tumor, but I am just wondering what's with all the "great guy" comments?

I am an outsider (Canadian), but based on everything I read/know about Ted Kennedy he is a lifelong drunk, adulterer, coward etc. His main claim to fame is (amazingly) getting off on manslaughter in the "Chapaquidic" tragedy where he left that women to die in the car after he drunkenly plowed it into the water.

Sad that he has a brain tumor? Yes.

Does this horrible fate magically transforms him into a "good guy"? No.

He is a Kennedy so by default we are supposed to feel sorry for him. I agree though that the guy is scum. Just your average career politician that has lots of money.

Who said that? And I mentioned before that as wacky as he is, he's also done a lot of good too.

He has been in the Senate for what 40 years? Far to long and it is time to go. The only thing keeping him in there is his money and the family name.

Can't say I'm a fan of the Kennedy family politically, but my dad died from a brain tumor and it's not a noble way to go out.
    Feel bad for his family.

Doesn't make it right. There should be limits on how long you can serve.

Regardless of his past and even though I can't stand his political leanings, I wish him well. Looks like it will be a tough battle.

Kennedy is nowhere close to some of the southern senators. As for term limits, there are not any. It has come up many times before. There are arguments for and against. But, the case for having them, is not convincing enough to change the constitution. The only reason we have them for the President, is because the republicans freaked out after Roosevelt was elected four times.

There is no need for anyone to have a 40 year stranglehold on Washington. No wonder we don't have any fresh ideas. I don't have any love for any of the Kennedy's or their tactics. But that is beside the point that no person should be allowed to serve that long.

Making silly untruthful accusations is very bad form. The Kennedy haters tried to make a story that did not exist. At that time, the republicans lived in fear of Kennedy making a serious run for the presidency. So, in true republican fashion, they fabricated this.

I think he meant about Mary Jo being a "working girl".
