Looks like Breitbart's site has pulled the link. But I found it elsewhere.

Meh. I understand what he's trying to say, but it's the most stupidly-worded statement I've heard in quite a while.

IOW, he's not saying that military suicide is good, he's saying military people are feeling so bad about killing other people that some of them would rather take their own lives, and that indicates we are becoming less savage as a civilization.

What an idiot. Public figures always say stupid things and then say "wait i didn't mean it like that!"
If you didn't mean it like that, don't say it like that...

Add this to the long list of outrageous, dumb, and poorly expressed things Turner, "the mouth of the South", has said. I will note that a few of those dumb things may be a byproduct of his bipolar disorder getting out of hand.

Well he's right about that. It does show that war is traumatic and the prevalence of psychological disorders in soldiers shows us we're better off making peace.

Easy to make a sensation about the wording of it if you've nothing better to do I guess.

Dude. He said its good they ate killing themselves. There is no justification in the world for that statement.

If this was someone on the right making that comment you guys would be tearing him to pieces.

    He didn't say that.

He's saying that there's a good point to be made and he explains that point, which is how you know he's making a point and not saying - it's good soldiers are killing themselves.

He stammered a bit getting it out so it didn't come off well. To me it's obvious.

    I agree.

It's an incredibly stupid thing for Turner to say. I believe it points out something people are prone to do ... they welcome failure, even tragic results when they believe it proves the opposition wrong.

Turner appears to lack empathy. But considering his past I don't find that too surprising.

Its a stupid thing to say and the sentiment is stupid. People are not more enlightened now and military suicides are not a signifier.

    I agree.

Let's see how any of us can handle a live mic.

Just like Mrs. Brown, glock-n-speel is having a busy day.

First off, he is a professional who owns a media empire..He should know how to handle handle a mic.

Second, by your logic anyone, including R's who have misspoken deserve the benefit of the doubt and deserve to be given a second pass on their statements so that they can explain what they really meant, from Romney and his 47% comment to this weeks blow up over "God intended women to get pregnant from rape" or whatever it was...

Please...the hypocrisy here is simply appaling.

    Assumption.

Because I run a ditch-digging company, it doesn't necessarily mean I have a clue on how to dig one.

Was he a shock-jock in a previous incarnation?

Definitely not the right thing to say. I think he needs to clarify.

It's pretty clear what he meant. But I can see how it would be taken the wrong way.

It's not hypocrisy. People simply understand what turner was saying: people should feel bad killing other people. The two examples you gave; people are disgusted by what they said.
