    Extract:
Infant slain in stroller: Ga. mom says teen gunman asked, "Do you want me to kill your baby?"

(AP) BRUNSWICK, Ga. - A Georgia woman said Friday a teenager trying to rob her at gunpoint asked "Do you want me to kill your baby?" before he fatally shot her 13-month-old son in the head.
Sherry West wept while she told The Associated Press that she pleaded with the gunman and a younger accomplice who approached her Thursday morning as she walked near their home in coastal Brunswick.

"He asked me for money and I said I didn't have it," she said. "When you have a baby, you spend all your money on babies. They're expensive. And he kept asking and I just said `I don't have it.' And he said, `Do you want me to kill your baby?' And I said, `No, don't kill my baby!"'.....

    It's a sad story.

I don't know what pisses me off more though. The fact these kids would shoot a baby in the head because they didn't get any money or the fact people commenting on this story on CNN think this was some elaborate plot by the mom to kill her kid.....

If caught, the shooter should spend the rest of his life in prison.

I can see it now, some gun nut on here or someone like Wayne Loppy-Hair at the NRA saying something moronic like, "Babies should have guns so they can defend themselves and their mothers" or "The only way to stop a bad teenager with a gun is with a good teenager with a gun".

Very sad and very sickening... :(

If the NRA says that babies should have guns, I'll officially change my stance to pro gun-ban.

That is great to hear. Hopefully the judge will deny bail.

While I agree with you, the SCOTUS has ruled that minors can't be sentenced to death. Therefore the best we can hope for is, if convicted, the shooter will never be a free man again.

Would you kill them simply for revenge, or to discourage the millions of other people about to go out and shoot a baby in the head?

I don't either, but I do know that the first thing I am going to do when I get home is hug and hold my children and tell them how much I love them.

This is not a gun issue but a what is wrong with society issue. How can anyone have this much evil that they could even consider shooting a baby in a stroller.

I think revenge would be a good start.

Any deterrent by-products would be an added bonus.

I have to agree, this is awful. It's a problem with kids having no decent values, and the very easy availability of weapons.

I don't know what the best response to this. I cannot possibly imagine the grief this poor mother must be going through.

Is that the purpose of a justice system?

Slimy scum like the shooter should not exist on this earth, and if it takes eliminating them one at a time it's well worth it.

Call it revenge, pay back, justice, or simply house cleaning. I really don't care. There is no excuse for this individual to inhale one more air molecule.

    That's hatred.

Please don't allow it to control your emotions.

Let the justice system do its job.

I don't think hatred is the right word. I think disgust provides a much more appropriate connotation.

And if someone in mcrain's profession gets this sick bastard off because of his deprived childhood, it will just be another example of the justice system doing it's job.
