I will probably be doing this, this afternoon. I honestly don't see the big deal with it having to be tethered considering 98% of the time my touch is in sleep mode and I don't ever shut it down nor have I had any crashes since I've had it
 
Btw, if you go on a trip I would recommend unjailbreaking your iPod before going unless you are going to bring the computer your iPod syncs with.

Well, you're one of the few lucky people. Also, some people like to restart their device to clear up memory.

I agree. unless some of the cydia apps cause instability, im not worried about it although I must wait for a windows based solution :(

So... this is only available for Macs I'm assuming.

And yep, it's not that bad down here. Although, we hardly get any snow.
